Volume 1 was just ok. The series has gotten stronger as it goes on. This was an excellent read (4.5 or 4.75 stars). The dialogue is very good and the social commentary is outstanding.

There are wonderful touches on inventions, insults, clothing, fads, identity and changes over time. When volume 5 or 6 comes out, I'll sit down and read them through at once. I expect that will change my opinion on volume one (for the positive).

I continue to be delighted about the 12 year old's views of their adult selves.

Best storyline, best characters, best imagery, love it.
can't recommend this series enough, great story. Arrived on time and in good shape.
Love BKV and anything he’s part of. Cool sci-fi 80s nostalgia
You finally start getting into the meat of this story, learning about the war and where it started as well as getting to know some more personal information about our heroines. Brian K Vaughan has an excellent pace and keeps the story flowing at just the right speed while be able to introduce our main characters, the world they live in, and the colorful people that inhabit it.
It's all there plot, dialogue, world-building, character development, and great art. I wonder if we're going to see Mac's confrontation with her adult self in the next arc, or perhaps it will be KJ. What will the pull of sexuality do to their sisterhood? I certainly want to find out.
This volume delves even more into the lore of this world and like usual, has plenty of shocking moments.
Paper Girls always have great cliffhangers at the end of every issue. Can't stop reading it.
Vaughan has yet to entirely win me over with this book the time jumping feels somewhat superficial and the character's are mostly wit and not yet strongly felt. The setting before Y2K and the late 1990s subcultural references are fun, and I do some real character development is beginning to happen sandwiched in with a ever shifting cast of secondary characters and lots of time-bending. Chiang and Wilson continue to knock it out of the park with the art and colors though, and since I did feel like both character and plot developed in this volume, it won me a little more over to Vaughan's side.
