I actually really like this book, but please, please JAK, talk to your agent about the new Audible recordings of your books. Louisa Jane Underwood, who seems to be narrating more and more of your books, is completely ruining them. I admit that I'm probably spoiled by earlier recorded version of this book read by Anne Flosnik, but surely there's some competent narrator out there who won't totally miss the subtle humor of your books and turn the characters into stereotypical buffoons.I might have been able to get past the characterizations, but I had to stop listening because Underwood's sing-song speech pattern was making me nuts. And she makes the cardinal mistake of emphasizing the adjectives and adverbs rather than the verbs and nouns - which is pretty much narration 101.
I realize that everyone's reactions are different and that many people may enjoy this recording, but if you've listened to other recordings of JAK books by Anne Flosnik, Barbara Rosenblatt, and Katherine Kellgren, and enjoyed their talented interpretations, be prepared to be very disappointed. At the very least, I suggest that you try to get the audio book at a promotional price and not pay $20.

Another fast paced romantic adventure with some bad guys and bad girls. You just don't want to put it down
I always enjoy Amanda Quick’s books. Love the mystery and the intrigue set in historical settings. This one left me guessing till the end. )
I bought Wait Until Midnight in the form of an audiobook. I highly recommend doing so as the reader, Anne Flosnik (in my opinion) made the novel so much more enjoyable. The main characters, Caroline and Adam were likable enough, but if I had bought the actual novel to read, I wouldn't have finished it as the story and romance were a bit mediocre. Listening to Ms. Flosnik made it more interesting and gave it some edge so for that, I gave it 4 stars. So I will be picking up more of the Amanda Quick novels in the form of audiobooks. This is definitely a good book to listen to.
I always look forward to finding out how entertaining the next mystery/romance will twist it's way to a happy conclusion. Never disappointing.
Some say heros don't really exist; others say fiction paints false pictures of events and encourages beliefs that are naive, & foolish. This tale embraces a man- logical and prudent - who becomes heroic. Especially to a "burned" once trusting woman. The ending ?? The resulting story ?? Better settle down and read.
I'm an avid old school reader of the Quick novels. I began to lose interest in her delightful stories as she transitioned into the paranormal, arcane themes through the 2000's and into the present. It's quite boring. This book, however, offered more vestiges of the earlier, LOL dialogue between the hero and the heroine. The plot was pleasingly interesting, and there was a nice twist at the end. I likes these characters. I wish Ms. Quick/Krentz would attend a few less seances herself!
Amanda Quick does it again A well-written romantic mystery. The character driven story kept me reading until midnight..I could not put it down until the story was finished. I think I will have to read it again since I was racing to find out what happened. Now I will read it for enjoyment looking for the clues in the text which build the plot. I really enjoy Ms Quick's writing and creative world building.
